Description

Cygnus is such a beautiful area of the night sky. So much going on. Another of my favorites is the area around Sadr, gamma Cygnus, the star at the centered of this image. This is a single 4°x6 area imaged using a "DYI 75mm F/4 astrograph". This is composed of Halpha, NII, and OIII 3nm filter subframes. A total of (61) 1200 second exposures,~ (20) for each filter.

This is a complete reprocessing of data from 2016 using the latest Pixinsight tools. Trying to hone my skills in prep for new instruments, being fielded.

The old image used Red-continuum exposures for star removal using subtraction functions. It was an arduous task balancing tonal ranges to minimize artifacts. It is much simpler today with StarNet and StarXTerminator functionality.
